This one is for Naz
I thought I was done but thanks to the discord, progress is still able to be made. I was trying to work in a really solid idea from a fellow Crawler named Naz but couldn't get it to fit...however, it lead to a happy accident...
...well, kinda happy. It helped me realise a problem to fix but the downside is that the fix meant Naz's idea fit even less :/
It was a seriously cool idea about using Jokers to outbid for gems that were up for grabs in exchange for blatantly endangering the party in the long run. Fact is he inadvertently helped make the game better and more foolproof.
- Changed how gems work during the "Reveal" phase
- Now instead of bidding for the gem, it's based on who was last to kindle the torch stack.
- This solves the problem of no one having any kindling to compare for the highest value. Since this was left to interpretation I initially wanted to say "otherwise the gem is discarded" but that felt like I was back-peddling a little to a lazy solution that ultimately wasn't as satisfying and, to an extent, didn't make sense.
- This also helps incentivize players to keep the torch stack lit if they can rather than horde their stronger kindling for bidding over the gem, which in fairness was a pretty fun way to feel strategic.
Will have to see how it feels to be honest. Clarity is important but so is fun. Hope I can figure out the best of both worlds on this one.
